Global Online Education Company
Four months to define the learner and instructor experience for an AI-enabled learning platform, before personalization became a black box.
The Situation
The client served K–12 and higher education through a suite of connected but inconsistently designed tools spanning content authoring, course delivery, assessment, analytics, and administration. Learner- and instructor-facing patterns did not align. Planned AI capabilities, including adaptive learning paths, intelligent tutoring, and automated feedback, required a UX framework that did not yet exist.
How I Worked
- Framed an MVP experience vision for the AI-enabled platform.
- Interviewed instructors, learners, and institutional administrators.
- Established working relationships across Product, Engineering, and Content.
- Delivered personas, information architecture, research sessions, and current- and ideal-state learner journey maps.
- Defined AI interaction patterns that balanced personalization with learner agency and instructor oversight.
What Followed
The engagement established UX foundations for adaptive learning, a coherent information architecture for modular content, and accessibility standards integrated with the existing LMS. The result was not merely a presentation about AI, but a system designed for real teaching and learning.
