Global Pharmaceutical Company
An agentic AI assistant for patients, designed within the regulatory, ethical, and operational constraints of the life sciences industry.
The Situation
The initiative had to balance innovative, AI-driven patient support with stringent regulatory requirements. Clinical, Regulatory, Technology, and Patient Advocacy teams each held legitimate veto power. An assistant that felt magical in a demo could not ship if it could not escalate appropriately, explain its reasoning, and operate within defined boundaries.
How I Worked
- Defined a patient experience vision before the model conversation took over the room.
- Established governance frameworks for AI interactions, including clear escalation pathways to clinical support.
- Aligned stakeholders who did not naturally share a common vocabulary—clinicians, regulators, technologists, and advocates.
- Designed the conversational experience and MVP so that “intelligent” never meant “unchecked.”
What Followed
The program concluded with a patient experience vision, a governance framework for AI interactions, including clinical escalation pathways, and an MVP conversational design capable of withstanding regulatory review. The result was a viable foundation for deployment, not merely a demo that could not ship.
